How we work together.
Idea
You have an idea for your home or business. You may already have a design, or just a few images that appeal to you. We would like to know what you enjoy and how you want to use the space. These images follow the development of a kitchen with a rock wall and a stone island.
Consultation
We discuss layout, everyday use, budget and timing. Material samples help us explore the colour and texture of the wall and island. We can work with your interior designer or develop the design together with you.
Sketch
The kitchen takes shape on paper. We explore the position of the island, the space around it and the relief of the rock wall. We review the first proposals together and refine proportions and materials before moving on.
Design
We develop the chosen design through drawings and details, including working height, appliances, services, the rock wall structure and stone supports. Before construction, we agree the scope, price and schedule. Work starts after your approval.
Crafting
The wall is built up and its rock texture shaped. The island is prepared, the stone installed and the appliances connected. We coordinate the trades involved. We keep you informed and discuss any changes before proceeding.
Handover
The wall and island come together as one space. We walk through the kitchen with you and check the finishes and operation. We explain how to care for the stone and sculpted wall, and record any outstanding work so the next steps are clear.
About us
House of Bol grew out of more than twenty years of experience designing and building animal habitats. Its foundations were laid in zoos and large pet stores, with work at Rotterdam Zoo and several zoos in Germany. Every design centred on creating an environment that feels natural while meeting the demands of intensive daily use.
In that field, design and construction are inseparable. A rock wall must look convincing, but it also needs a sound structure. Materials, textures and transitions shape how a landscape is experienced. Years of designing and building these environments developed the knowledge to translate natural forms into bespoke work that fits its setting.
Over time, it became clear that this craftsmanship had applications beyond animal habitats. The same knowledge of sculpted rock, stone and construction creates possibilities for distinctive kitchens, bathrooms, wellness spaces and gardens. Commissions from private clients and other businesses grew, and House of Bol took shape through that development.
Today we work on homes, commercial interiors and outdoor spaces. We combine natural stone with mineral finishes, from soft wall textures to lifelike rock surfaces. We design in house and collaborate with interior designers, taking care of technical development and delivery too.
